Chapter 3: Land of the White Witches (session 4)

Our heroes pass through the portal, and find themselves in the wilderness of Irrisen, miles from civilization, with a storm approaching. As they journey north, toward a village in the distance, they meet Nadya Petska, and help her fight a giant mantis. they camp for the night with Nadya to wait out the storm, and are visited by Mierul Ardelain, a forlarren bard. The fey creature questions the heroes, and leaves before morning. The next day, the party is accosted by a swarm of ravens. The birds are dispersed, and the party arrives in Waldsby. The village is eerily similar to Heldren far to the south, both in layout and inhabitants. There our heroes meet Nadya’s family (twin 5-year-old boys named Orm and Mjoli, and a domovoi house-spirit named Hatch), and break the news about her daughter, Thora. Nadya agrees to lead them to the White Tower, but is captured the next morning. The heroes defeat the Tower guards, but only catch a glimpse of Nadya before she is spirited away by Nazhena Vasilliovna’s lieutenant Radosek Pavril.

Chapter 2: The Depths of Winter (session 3)

Our heroes return the Lady Argentea to the village of Heldren, and gear up for the journey to the portal. On their way, they encounter a trio of frost skeletons(accidently animated days ago by the bandit leader Rohkar experimenting with necromancy), a pair of frost firs(animate trees that likely wandered through the portal from the northlands), and found the body of hunter Dryden Kepp, whose journal warned of a giant weasel stalking the woods.
Next, they came accross a maze of ice in a clearing, haunted by the phantom of a little ulfen girl named Thora. She had been taken by a witch named Nazhena Vasilovna, killed, and her soul used to animate a guardian doll, which was eventually defeated by our heroes. As they set up camp for the night, the heroes are attacked first by the giant white weasel mentioned in the hunter’s diary, and later in the night by the ice mephit Izoze. The mephit is slain, and the weasel captured. Efforts to tame the beast end up mostly fruitless.
In the morning, the heroes set out to assault the camp at the portal. They battle several fey, and the leader, a moss troll named Teb Knotten. Soon after the northern invaders are defeated, a mysterious dark figure rides out of the portal. He reveals himself to be the Black Rider, last surviving herald of Baba Yaga. He informs our heroes that Baba Yaga has gone missing, and her daughter Queen Elvanna of Irrisen is seeking to conquer the world, entombing it in an ice age. He entrusts the heroes with the task of stealing the Dancing Hut and finding Baba Yaga.
But first, our heroes must close the portal, and it can only be closed from the White Tower in Irrisen, on the other side of the portal.

Chapter 1: An Early Frost

Our heroes continue their mission to locate the missing Lady Argentea. They are confronted by a white stag who seems to be able to speak. They see through the trick, and defeat the atomie responsible, capturing him in a bottle. At a crossing of a small creek, they find a booby trapped snowman, and fight ice elementals lurking in ambush. Later they come across three of the bandits they are looking for, and learn that the gang has taken over the High Sentinel Lodge. They camp for the night, and assault the lodge at first light. Luckily for our heroes, half of Rohkar’s Raiders are down with the chillbane shakes, and the gang is routed despite Rohkar’s powerful unholy magic. The Lady Argentea is freed, and asks to be escorted back to Heldren. The captured bandit leader reveals that he was the unwilling ally of one Teb Knotten, a troll in the service of the White Witches of Irrisen and leader of the invading northern fey. The bandit also mentions a portal in the valley to the south, through which the rulers of Irrisen seek to extend their power into the unsuspecting southlands.

Chapter 1: An Early Frost

Our heroes hear of a kidnapped noblewoman, and set out to rescue her. The weather grows quickly colder the farther south and deeper into the woods they travel. They come upon the site of the attack, and find a pair of zombies left in ambush. Following the trail of the bandit kidnappers, they encounter a booby trap, a displaced northern beast, and a trio of winter-touched sprites(who flee the wrath of the fire-sorcerer).

Some pre-game info

This is where I can post logs of recent sessions. Here’s a blurb from the campaign to get you started: (those links go to our very own wiki!)

The sleepy village of Heldren has rarely seen so much excitement or concern. Hunters from the nearby Border Wood speak of unnaturally cold weather at the height of summer that descended on the forest just days ago. Heavy snow followed, and those who returned spoke of an uneasy presence in the woods, as well as new, dangerous predators. No one knows what this event means, but the town’s soothsayer, Old Mother Theodora, claims dark times lie ahead.
As if in proof of that dire prophecy, a badly wounded mercenary arrived in town yesterday, claiming to be a bodyguard of Lady Argentea Malassene. He told the village council that the noblewoman’s escort came under attack by bandits and strange, wintry creatures near the edge of the Border Wood. He alone escaped, and Lady Argentea was dragged away into the forest. Now the townsfolk cast fearful eyes toward the snowy forest, worried what else might emerge to threaten their peaceful village.
